We are currently hiring for the following positions:

  • CULTURAL PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR

    Drake Hotel Properties (DHP), an anchor of West Queen West and an original boutique hotel concept, has helped to transform Toronto’s cultural map. After 10+ years of acknowledged success, Drake is experiencing an exciting phase of growth and is currently seeking a PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR to help support the ongoing development of our cultural initiatives across all of our locations. This is the perfect role for someone looking to build their experience within a multi-disciplinary department that focuses on innovative cultural programming, curation, music programming and creative partnerships.

    This role is for you if you are passionate about the music and cultural movements within Toronto and beyond. You have an understanding of how programming departments work by being exposed to similar roles or internships within a cultural institution, production company or gallery setting. You have a diverse skill set ranging from creative programming, research and execution to detailed organization of all behind the scenes elements of a cultural department (event listings, marketing collateral requests, payments, expense and invoice processing, bookings in the event management system, staffing requests, etc.)

    Reporting to the Head of Cultural Programming with accountability to the Head of Music Programming, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the music and cultural programming function at Drake.

    Responsibilities:

    ARTS & CULTURAL SUPPORT
    - Manage all collateral requests for events, exhibitions
    - Be available to oversee cultural programming events and/or installations when required
    - Ensure websites for all locations are up to date with current exhibitions, installations, permanent collection and bi-monthly blog posts
    - Enter and manage expenses in purchase order system as they relate to cultural programming
    - Assist with internal communication, tours and training for new installations
    - Coordinate the safe and secure movement of art between locations
    - Support Head of Cultural Programming with recommendations for cultural programming events including readings, lecture series’, fashion, cultural events and guest blog authors
    - Source décor items
    - Contribute to research for exhibitions or décor treatments across properties

    MUSIC SUPPORT
    - Organization of internal booking calendars for all properties
    - Manage all collateral and information requests from marketing and public relations
    - Concert advancing with promoters and artists
    - Creation of music playlists for various properties
    - Scout and generate leads for music programming events
    - Enter and manage expenses in purchase order system as they relate to cultural programming
    - Support both Art and Music blog content by contributing blog posts on a weekly basis for each discipline

    Required Skills:
    - Post Secondary Education, ideally in Arts Administration or an Arts related discipline
    - 1-2 years’ experience in administration in a multi-disciplinary cultural institution

  • MARKETING INTERN

    The Drake Hotel Properties is seeking a motivated, resourceful and highly organized individual to act as Marketing Intern (3 Month). Communications and / or Marketing majors are preferred. Excellent communication skills, strong writing ability and a passion for arts, culture + hospitality are essential to succeed in this position.

    The Drake Hotel Properties Marketing Intern supports The Drake’s Marketing teamwith day-to-day responsibilities. The Marketing team encompasses Marketing, Digital Strategies, PR, Programming and Design. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    Responsibilities:
    - Assist with social media maintenance and outreach (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.)
    - Keep website up-to-date, creating + maintaining web copy and listings
    - Monitor and maintain marketing collateral
    - Assist with creating + maintaining The Drake Blog editorial calendar, as well as writing + uploading posts
    - Provide research + development support for new and ongoing grassroots initiatives
    - Assist with Digital Marketing initiatives including: subscriber imports, populating eBlast templates, etc.
    - Assist with the production and implementation of marketing collateral
    - Coordinate donations with community partners + organizations
    - Attend marquee events as a Drake ambassador
    - Assist onsite at Marketing / Programming-led events

    Qualifications:
    - Strong copy writing skills
    - Social media savvy
    - Strong communication and proof-reading skills
    - Attention to detail
    - The ability to meet tight deadlines regularly
    - Strong research abilities
    - Strong organizational skills and an ability to multitask and take initiative
    - Eagerness to learn
    - Resourcefulness and flexibility
    - Photography / graphic design skills an asset
