  • SOCIAL MEDIA + CONTENT COORDINATOR

    The Drake Hotel, an anchor of West Queen West and an original boutique hotel concept, has helped to transform Toronto’s cultural map. Known as an energetic hub for visual and performance art, dining, hospitality and retail experiences, the Drake is one of Canada’s most unique and sought after hotel and culinary destinations. After 11 years of acknowledged success, the Drake is experiencing an exciting phase of growth as we extended our cultural mandate to our new outposts; Drake One Fifty, our first stand-alone restaurant nestled in Toronto’s bustling Financial District and Drake Devonshire Inn, in Prince Edward County.
    As we continue to broaden the reach of our brand and offerings, we are seeking a SOCIAL MEDIA + CONTENT COORDINATOR, that focuses on creating engaging communications and marketing content that is timely, attention grabbing, and tells the story of the Drake brand.
    With knowledge of all things art, pop culture, music, food, restaurants, travel, design, lifestyle, photography + more, to join our dynamic marketing team and capture the voice of Drake. This copy savvy, social networker, blogger and foodie will have impeccable writing skills and a network of connections, and followers as well as the ability to transition seamlessly into Drake's ecosystem; where business, community, culture and ingenuity all intersect.
    As our in-house writer, you embody the voice of the brand, penning everything from click bait-y headlines to long copy. A core focus of your work will be in the digital space, including the Drake Blog, websites, social media, e-newsletters and other communication vehicles. You will be expected to work on copywriting for a variety of initiatives and campaigns and will play a key role in creating content for social media and maintaining exciting, engaging, on brand content for our social channels.

    Responsibilities:
    • Developing strategic concepts + content, that are aligned with the business + creative needs of the Marketing team, Drake properties and internal stakeholders
    • Work with the marketing and design team to sell and execute bold, persuasive messages for the properties and the brand
    • Developing and executing integrated social media and content strategy across The Drake’s active channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube
    • Creating and sourcing engaging content for our social media channels, maintaining those channels, engaging with users and following up on customer service and guest issues that may arise
    • Creating, collaborating on and producing video and photo content for social media, blog, websites
    • Storytelling and developing cohesive narrative through campaign copy, social media, blog and websites
    • Writing + editing blog posts as well as evolving the Drake blog
    • Copywriting for advertising campaigns
    • Collating guest feedback from user review sites into User Generated Sites report to gauge market attitude and what’s being said about The Drake
    • Responding to guest feedback on user sites including Facebook, Twitter and TripAdvisor
    • Contributing at brainstorming and creative planning sessions
    • Ensure concepts contain clear, concise and convincing writing and ensure grammatical and material accuracy
    • Liaising with the Public Relations team and insuring key media stories are shared across channels and platforms
    Qualifications:
    • A solid background in writing including but not limited to copywriting, social media and blogging with a minimum 2 years of experience
    • Experience working with traditional and digital mediums
    • A strategic team player who thinks out of the box and is always willing to contribute feedback
    • A good listener, strong conceptual skills, able to handle and learn from constructive criticism
    • Comfortable working within a busy and fast paced environment
    • Degree or diploma in a related field
    • Some evening and weekend hours will be required attending events, covering them for the blog and social media, maintaining social media content and engaging with guests
    via these platforms.

    This role is ¾ in the office and ¼ out of the office (30 hours per week – 25 hours in the office/ 5 hours out of office on evenings and weekends)

  • AUDIO VISUAL MANAGER

After 12 years of acknowledged success, the Drake is experiencing an exciting phase of growth as we extended our cultural mandate to our new outposts; Drake One Fifty, our first stand-alone restaurant nestled in Toronto’s bustling Financial District and Drake Devonshire Inn, in Prince Edward County.

    As we continue to broaden the reach of our brand and offerings, we are seeking an AUDIO-VISUAL MANAGER, who is comfortable in a fast paced, ever changing audio-visual environment, with a wide variety of event and technical needs.

    The Audio-Visual Manager is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the audio-visual department at all Drake properties, by managing the roster of AV technicians, coordinating event requirements with Special Events and Cultural Programming departments, ensuring reliable functioning of all AV equipment, and participating in the planning & execution of new AV initiatives. Adherence to department operating & labour budgets is required throughout. Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Audio-Visual Manager is also responsible for the following:

    Responsibilities:
    • Ensure successful execution of audio-visual services at a wide variety of events (weddings, meetings, parties, live music, DJs, theatre, etc.)
    • Work with internal and external clients to determine event AV requirements
    • Source and coordinate equipment rentals and purchases
    • Supervise, schedule & coordinate AV technicians
    • Act as venue technician for events as required (e.g. audio engineer, lighting engineer, video engineer, stage hand, etc.)
    • Support internal business AV requirements (e.g. internal meetings and venue AV routing)
    • Ensure reliable functioning of audio-visual equipment at all properties
    • Manage and monitor AV equipment inventory, maintenance log, and system documentation
    • Regular preventive maintenance of all AV equipment
    • Troubleshoot AV equipment issues
    • Perform equipment repairs when possible & coordinate external repairs when required
    • Monitor and manage labour & operating expenses, adhering to department budgets
    • Source and manage video content for in-house “Drake TV” in conjunction with Cultural Programming department
    • Record, produce and manage audio content for telephone system in conjunction with Marketing department
    • Participate in planning and execution of new AV initiatives, including new properties and system upgrades

    Qualifications
    • A minimum of 4 years relevant work experience, certification with an accredited audiovisual technical school an asset
    • A passion for technology
    • Good understanding of audio and video signal flow
    • Excellent interpersonal & customer service skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and activities
    • Strong computer skills, including a knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel
    • Independent and self-motivated, works well with limited supervision, takes exceptional pride in their work and the work of the team
    • Adaptable to flexible working schedule, including evenings and weekends
