  • MARKETING COORDINATOR

    We are seeking an eager and energetic MARKETING COORDINATOR, who can juggle, write, research, prioritize and keep things in order (did we say juggle?).     DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Digital Marketing

    • Maintain The Drake’s Digital Marketing and SEO tactics using internal tools such as Google Analytics, Yoast + others
    • Assist in regular reporting and insights on our digital performance using Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Campaign Monitor, subscriber imports and other tools
    • Compile and distribute weekly marketing reports
    • Assist with maintenance of digital property pages on third-party sites
    Copy Writing + Content

    • Assist with creating + maintaining The Drake’s Social Media schedule and The Drake Blog editorial calendar, as well as writing + uploading posts
    • Assist with copy writing and editing of company marketing messages including print ads and newsletters
    • Create new online content including display advertising, eBlasts + website content
    • Contribute to website development, including copy, images and SEO, to make Drake websites more SEO effective and engaging for visitors
    Marketing Campaigns + Advertising

    • Work closely with the in-house creative team to produce + implement marketing collateral in support of promotional campaigns
    • Execute ad placements including boosted social media posts – experience with this is an asset
    • Monitor and maintain marketing collateral
    • Provide research + development support for new and ongoing grassroots initiatives

    Operations

    • Work with the Marketing, Culture, Programming, Events, and Operations teams to execute the various marketing initiatives throughout DHP
    • Attend marquee events as a Drake ambassador
    • Assist onsite at Marketing / Programming-led events
    • Coordinate photographers, guest bloggers and other freelancers

    Stakeholder Relations / Community Management

    • Attend stakeholder (GM, Programming, Operations) meetings to support a consistent level of communication between departments
    • Help build relationships with community partners to foster mutually beneficial opportunities
    • Coordinate donations with community partners + organizations
    • Responding to guests on social media and platforms such as Google, Trip Advisor + Yelp
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience working in marketing with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience
    • Creative + strategic thinker with the ability to identify trends and apply them to the business
    • Experience working with digital + traditional marketing channels
    • Strong knowledge of social media outlets and practices
    • Strong communication, proof-reading skills and attention to detail
    • The ability to meet tight deadlines regularly
    • Experience with digital marketing, including SEO, Google Analytics + email marketing
    • Skillful long and short copy writing skills, with good grammar, spelling, punctuation and structure.
    • A strategic team player who thinks outside of the box and is always willing to contribute feedback.
    • Comfortable working within a very busy + fast paced environment – highly organized
    • Degree or diploma in a related field (preferred)
    • Some evening + weekend hours will be required attending events, maintaining social media content + engaging with followers via social platforms
    • Unafraid to dig in, roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
    • A team player and problem solver with a positive attitude and great work ethic, who can be accountable to stakeholders across departments and properties

  • PR COORDINATOR

    We’re looking for a rising start to join our hard working, multi-tasking, ever-busy PR team. If you’ve dreamed of an in house job with lots of potential for growth that isn’t beige and lets you dabble in food, beverage, travel, retail, music, art, fashion and lifestyle PR, then you’ve come to the right place. We need someone who is always focused on making sure reports, emails and even notes to self are just so, a hunger for keeping up with the always-changing Canadian media landscape, a healthy appreciation for influencer relations, and a keen interest in becoming a savvy media relations pro. A love for being out and about at events in the city is a nice bonus, too.

    In short, we need someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about what the Drake is all about, and looking to build a career with a growing, dynamic brand – and all the ups and downs that come with that. Attention to detail, a healthy ability to go with the flow and change with the times, an eagerness to soak up all things media, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed are the keys to success with the PR team at the Drake. Some experience (internships, junior roles) with an agency or fast-paced in-house setting at a similar company is strongly preferred. Here’s the rest of the nitty gritty:

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Daily media monitoring, capture all media mentions for weekly and ongoing reports (either working with PR intern or handling responsibility when there’s no intern on board)
    • Create and distribute detailed weekly media update
    • Provide notable media coverage stories to marketing team/social media coordinator for use in the Ake and on all social media channels
    • Work with social media & content coordinator to write a weekly blog post
    • Work with PR manager to create media pitches and send information as needed to media members
    • Work with PR specialist to write first drafts of press releases and media alerts
    • Admin support: maintain all media subscriptions and service providers, input invoices into Adaco and work with PR specialist to track and update PR budget and red card spends
    • Update and maintain quote log, signature bar and press coverage section on all DHP websites
    • Work with PR specialist to update and maintain media database
    • Provide on-site support during media and influencer events at DHP

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelor degree in public relations, communications, English, journalism or marketing preferred
    • Minimum of 1 year of progressive public relations experience required, with special consideration given to those with lifestyle, food and beverage and hospitality experience.
    • Event experience a strong asset
    • Proficient in MSOffice, MRP, FP Infomart. Experience with MailChimp is an advantage
    • Strong knowledge of media, F&B, entertainment and hospitality industries
    • Strong grasp of social media tools and uses
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal presentation skills and strong writing abilities
    • Developed web and print research, fact checking and proofing skills
    • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast paced, team environment with a creative approach. Ability to handle high stress situations and prioritize competing deadlines and projects is key.
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to proactively follow up and attention to detail extremely important
    • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required

  • JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER (6 Month Contract)

    The Marketing and Design Department of Drake Hotel Properties is a hub of collaboration and creativity. Our team environment fosters an atmosphere of sharing ideas and creating a buzz around exciting, diverse and challenging projects. We’re seeking a passionate, enthusiastic JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER for our team, someone who delights in exploring the connection between art, design, music, food, culture and hospitality. The Junior Graphic Designer will assist the design team in producing highly creative designs and packaging across a variety of products and applications.

    DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
    • Work closely with art director, designers, and the marketing team to provide exciting, forward-thinking, brand-strategic, visually appealing, creative ways to present our events and offerings to our target audience of culture-seekers across all properties (Drake Hotel, Drake Devonshire, Drake One Fifty, Drake Commissary and Drake Catering)
    • Complete design requests for various Drake Hotel Property stakeholders (Marketing, Public Relations, Culture, Programming, Events, Human Resources and Operations)
    • Work with the design team to produce a wide range of materials including print (menus, posters, signage and wayfinding, etc), and online materials (email marketing, newsletters, and other online assets)
    • Prepare files for printing and distribution to various Drake properties: print, cut fold and collate in-house collateral, as needed
    • Edit/update existing creative and enhance previous marketing campaigns for future use
    • Provide image retouching, resizing, and additional image manipulation
    • Prepare images for online and mobile applications
    • Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners
    • Catalogue and reference visual assets for future projects
    • Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • A degree or diploma in graphic design, along with an outstanding portfolio and experience that shows a clear knowledge of print production and design
    • 2+ years’ experience in a graphic design position
    • Proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office
    • Demonstrated ability to work within branding guidelines, with an eye for detail
    • Team player and problem solver with a positive attitude and great work ethic, who can be accountable to stakeholders across departments and properties
    • Highly resourceful & independent
    • Ability to manage design schedules for multiple overlapping projects, and meet key deliverables
    • Must be pro-active and possess the ability to meet tight deadlines
    • Must have aptitude for a high paced environment with the ability to manage many moving parts
    • Experience with digital content such as websites, social media, online advertising and email campaigns would be an asset
