This August, on Tuesday evenings from 5-9PM, Drake One Fifty, Momofuku + friends will transform the York Street parkette (west side of York St. between Richmond + Adelaide) into a mini night-market, offering gourmet street food, summertime treats, and notable Canadian indie musicians performing street-side, creating a twilight oasis in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District. We'll be joined by our Financial District neighbours The Gabardine and Richmond Station on alternating Tuesdays, in addition to Drake One Fifty + Momofuku.
Here's the deal: guests trade tickets ($5 each) for one food or drink item. Offerings will riff on the Drake interpretation of high meets low: mini Spiedinis with Cumbrae's flank steak, gremolata + crispy garlic, pizzettes with eggplant, smoked ricotta + preserved chillis and slow roasted, spice rubbed pork shoulder sliced to order and served on house made rye bread. And that's just the beginning. Momofuku will serve their famous steamed buns, cold tripe salad, bo ssäm plates + kimchi eggs. Drooling yet? We haven't even told you about The Gabardine's 'Trini “bake and shark” sandwiches of fried bread, fried cod, green seasoning, cabbage slaw + tamarind sauce. But it's not just about the food. Our friends at Grolsch will bring in an artist to create your personalized piece of portrait art, and, of course, $5 cups of Grolsch. At Drake General Store's booth you'll find their signature mix of quirky curiosities and takeaway treasures.
It just wouldn't be Drake of us if we didn't have musical accompaniment for your eating, drinking + art-ing pleasure.
On August 5 Tim Moxam + his guitar join us in the parkette.August 12 we'll be graced with the vocals of Megan Bonnell. On August 19...ok we're still working on it. But we'll have Donovan Woods playing Twilight Tuesday August 26!
UPDATE: for the Twilight Tuesday finale on August 26, everyone is coming out to play! That means scrumptious food offerings from Drake One Fifty, Momofuku, The Gabardine, Richmond Station, and our neighbours Tundra.
To make this a true community event, proceeds from food sales will be donated to the Out of the Cold program at St. Andrew's Church, so that everyone in the 'hood is able to get a good meal when they need it most.
This August, escape the concrete jungle for our twilight oasis on York Street.
We would like to thank our presenting sponsors, DREAM for making this event possible!
