My Little Arcana
In partnership with DesignTO (Jan 22 – Jan 31), you can find Alisa McRonald’s work displayed at The Drake Hotel in the front window lobby and café. The exhibit My Little Arcana consists of five textile works: The Creep, The Witch, The Princess, The Cat and The Rock Star and consist of two large tapestry woven pieces that are made of reclaimed t-shirts made into yarn. Using punch needle and weaving techniques, Alisa’s five woven weirdos live in the ironic pop-culture paradise of Queer GenX Feminist art. Her work is a tactile fruit salad with a soupçon of the esoteric and has been featured in publications such as: The New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar Japan, Nylon Magazine and Giant Robot Magazine. She was awarded the 2020 Best of Craft and Design Award from the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair.
