A note from the artist "The Wishing well comes from the idea that water is a gift and it holds the power of gods within. This element provides for us and because of it, we have the ability to carry on and to feel.
To me, the wishing well shows its face in the sky and the sea, when I am alone. At the edge of the ocean or on a bridge over a river. When a storm begins or in a field of ruin. In these wild spaces It is clear what I wish for. I want to surrender myself to love. There are times when longing and reality collide in rare, extraordinary experiences - a strike of lightning on the clearest day…. A Roman candle in the hand of a friend…. A song that is sung for you alone.
In these times, each of us is faced with the choice to fear the extreme or to find the strength to recognize its power. When I feel brave I am most connected to the sea, rivers, lakes, and wishing ponds. I no longer worry that their solutions will devour me and dissolve my world. I trust that when I surrender myself, the water will hold me in turn." (Carmen Marie Alonso)
