Rajni Perera (solo exhibition)
Site specific installation comprised of mural, 13 table tops and circular composition
Mini Bar, our first location dedicated to the work of a single artist, is proud to feature our inaugural artist, Rajni Perera, in an exhibition that combines a delicately painted photo installation of Oluseye, a Nigerian-Canadian artist resplendent in painted lace and jewels, surrounded by lush foliage, hand-drawn table tops and science fiction-inspired imagery.
In the artists’ words: “The wall piece Our People situates members of diaspora as the original creators and disseminators of luxury and glamour. Inspired by vintage Cartier illustrations, the tables work to abstract the look of the company’s jewellery design from the 1930s to the present, bright whites and coloured facets set by manila paper or in this case, unfinished wood.”
