Craig Dorety has innovated LED control techniques that allow light to have dynamic spacial presence. Using custom electronics and firmware to make subtly changing color relationships, Dorety creates colored light sculptures that cause viewers to question what they see.

Upward Set of Circles

This artwork is comprised of 9 layers: 4 LED layers that create a shaded space for light, and 5 layers of painted surfaces (4 white layers 1 black face). Each layer contains a number of programmable color LEDs. The LEDs are animated by color information from a digital photograph.
