Krista Dalby (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist, Canadian playwright, director and producer. Dalby has a passion for community building, often running arts programming for kids like Boxtopia (a large-scale cardboard installation) and is the co-director of Picton’s Firelight Lantern Festival. Her installation was inspired by her recent Drake Devonshire artist residency, integrating her passion for theater, history, community, and art. Punch and Judy puppet shows have their roots in 16th-century Italian commedia dell'arte. This rather violent and mischievous character enjoys beating up everyone he encounters, and is a variation of the Lord of Misrule and Trickster figures found in mythologies across the world. Red and white striped puppet booths became iconic features on the beaches of many English seaside and summer holiday resorts in the 20th century.
