Aline Setton is a Brazilian artist living between Sao Paulo and Toronto, Canada. Her global presence living in different places as well as her studies in architecture provide a foundation for her work. Throughout history, humans have imbued architecture with mythological significance, creating narratives that deepen our connection to the built environment. From ancient temples and palaces to modern skyscrapers and sacred spaces, architecture has been adorned with symbolic motifs, religious iconography, and legendary tales. These mythologies often aim to inspire awe, instill a sense of belonging, or communicate societal ideals.
Aline’s work acts as an invitation to experience the materiality of the body in relation to the object. Inspired by urban infrastructure and architecture, the sculpture was made using common building materials and techniques, while its geometry is designed to welcome the human scale. This interplay between the tangible and the intangibility of the way we interact with architectural forms continues to shape our relationship with the built environment and contribute to the richness of human experience.
