MAKIKO HARRIS (b. 1989, Netherlands) is a Japanese and American multimedia visual artist working across painting, sculpture, installation, and sound. Her work explores themes of ambiguous identity, contemporary femininity, agency, and power. Between Belonging and Freedom explores the idea that our points of view are always fragmented or coloured by our histories and unique experiences. Like the fragments of acrylic pieces, reality is a tapestry of many different viewpoints and voices that come together to weave a rich perspective on our current moment. @makikoharris / makikoharrisart.com
