IT Support Specialist

Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Support Specialist will help maintain and improve the IT environment across Drake Hotel properties. This is a terrific opportunity to learn and grow within an exciting, dynamic and expanding organization. The role will provide exposure to a variety of technologies and solutions across a broad range of operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical in-person support to users as well as via email & telephone (some off-hours & on-call support is likely)
- Install & maintain hardware and software systems to ensure stability, security and usability. Escalate major hardware or software problems to vendors or technicians for service
- Assist in the ongoing maintenance and development of the website and online services
- Modify, customize and configure commercial programs to suit internal needs
- Maintain record of daily activities, provide regular updates to users and IT department on open support issues
- Assist in development of training materials and procedures, and train users in the proper use of hardware and software
- Participate in research, planning and implementation of new technology initiatives
- Read technical manuals, trade magazines and other sources of information to maintain knowledge of current systems and industry developments
Requirements:
- Excellent customer support and communication skills
- Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies
- Ability to work independently and efficiently complete tasks
- Self motivated, detail-oriented and organized
- Great problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficient with Windows, MS Office, and other common desktop applications
- Understanding of networking and Windows Server technologies (DNS, DCHP, Active Directory)
- Reliability is essential as is the ability to be on-site when necessary for emergencies
- Project Management experience related to new software implementations
The ideal candidate will also have the following skills and qualifications:
- Experience with Oracle PMS, Silverware POS, TripleSeat Event Management Software
- Experience with Sage/Accpac accounting software
- At least 2 years experience in a hospitality environment troubleshooting similar POS, PMS, CRM, Event Management software systems
- Web development experience – HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, MySQL, Python, Django
- Experience managing Windows Servers and AD Domains
- Experience managing web servers (Linux + Apache, DNS configuration)
- Programming experience – .NET, C#, PHP, Python
- Experience managing Mac OSX, specifically when integrated into a Windows domain
- Experience configuring & maintaining IP telephony systems (3CX)
- Experience with audio-visual systems, understanding of signal flow
