Reporting to the Sr. HR Operations Manager, the HR Generalist is an integral member of the human resources function with The Drake, providing day-to-day operational, administrative, and recruitment support across multiple properties.
The Role:
The HR Generalist role focuses on the integrity of our HR data, recruitment, employee engagement, working closely with various internal stakeholders; Finance, F+B, Operations, and department heads. This is a growth opportunity for an enthusiastic, decisive, consultative and curious individual, looking to grow their multi-disciplinary, hands-on HR career.
The HR Generalist is an action-oriented, thorough, problem-solving, employee-facing individual who is looking to make their mark on an ever-evolving organization and industry through administrative, recruitment, and engagement efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Full-cycle recruitment; job descriptions, resume screening, interviewing, scheduling, hiring
- Source candidates on LinkedIn/ head hunting
- Intern/ school partnerships, school recruitment fairs, hosting recruitment fairs
- Track, create, present, and subsequent strategy of recruitment effort analytics
- Onboard; orientation packages, coordinate new employees’ start, reference checks
- Administration and distribution of uniforms
- Manage invoices/receipts relating to recruitment and social expenses
- HR admin; new hire paperwork, offer letters, HRIS integration + data entry
- Maintain compensation and benefit information in HRIS and internal communications
- Create and maintain employee engagement/ recognition initiatives, employer branding
- Key point of contact for managers and employees for employee questions, HR policies, etc.
- Health + Safety/ WSIB initiatives with HR Managers + JHSC
- Cross-train and act as backup for other team members
- Enroll employees into benefit program
- Conduct accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll through Ceridian Dayforce
- Payroll data entry; vacation, increases, garnishments, ROE’s, T4’s, reports, upload files
- Process new hires, terminations, updates, benefits, HRIS admin, and employee files
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources required
- Ideally 1-3 years of previous HR experience
- Ideally 1 year of previous full-cycle recruitment experience
- Knowledge of Ontario employment law, health and safety legislation, conflict management
- Maintain confidential information; manage sensitive issues professionally and maturely
- Superior attention to detail, problem solving, efficiency, and organizational skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
- Computer literacy, including MS Suite, and various software applications
- Accurate data entry, with numerical literacy
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple incoming demands
- Critical thinker, independent, intrinsically motivated, resourceful, ethical
- CHRP designation considered an asset
- Experience with HRIS and/or Payroll systems considered an asset
