Wallice is an emerging indie pop singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, known for blending tuneful melodies with emotionally honest, self-effacing lyrics. Born in Japan and raised in L.A., Wallice grew up surrounded by both cultures, which deeply influences her perspective and creativity. She first gained attention with her 2020 single "Punching Bag" and later signed with the U.K. label Dirty Hit, where her sound evolved to incorporate a jagged alt-rock edge. Her 2021 debut EP Off the Rails and its follow-up 90s American Superstar (2022) showcased her shift from indie pop to gritty alt-rock, drawing comparisons to artists like Lorde, Lana Del Rey, and Weezer.

Creative from a young age, Wallice Hana Watanabe initially pursued acting and appeared in an episode of Frasier. She later studied jazz vocals at New York’s New School before returning to L.A. to focus on music. Partnering with childhood friend and producer Marinelli, she developed her unique DIY sound, drawing from her early influences. Her Japanese heritage is woven into her storytelling, particularly in songs like "Japan," which reflects on her cultural roots.

After the breakout success of Punching Bag, Wallice leaned into a more aggressive sound with singles like "23" and "Headache." Her EP 90s American Superstar chronicled a fictional version of herself, while her 2023 EP Mr. Big Shot returned to her alt-pop style with sparkling melodies and rousing choruses.

Wallice has quickly become a rising voice for Gen Z, praised for her witty, relatable storytelling. She has garnered attention from outlets like Vogue, The New York Times, NME, and BBC Radio 1, and toured with artists like The 1975. As she rolls out her third EP and embarks on headline tours across the U.S., Asia, and Australia, Wallice is cementing her place as one of indie pop’s most exciting new talents.
