THEHONESTGUY is a soulful, sonic tour de force. The Toronto based artist who has a strong penchant for melody and groove, embodies the spirit and sound of R&B and funk to create what he has coined “FUNKY SOUL”.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria in the 90s. THEHONESTGUY was exposed to R&B music in his prime and such exposure early allowed him develop a deep love and passion for all facets of the genre e.g Funk, Soul, New jack swing Afro-soul, neo-soul. Songwriting became the solace of the artist who grew up socially isolated and a way to pay homage to the music that gives his life meaning.

With two projects released to date, THEHONESTGUY has been able to capture audiences far and wide. His most recent project HOW TO MAKE LOVE has been the most monumental; gaining a JUNO AWARD NOMINATION (Canada’s most prestigious music award) in the Traditional R&B category in 2023. The project was also critically acclaimed on Spotify, Apple music and CBC music including: SPOTIFY FRESH FINDS OF 2022, SPOTIFY BEST R&B SONGS OF 2022, SPOTIFY ARTIST TO WATCH IN 2023.
