It’s National Poetry Month! An annual event that celebrates the transformative power of language through word, sound and power.
Celebrate NPM with Right Beside You: Poetry Jam, a live collaborative jam session of poetry, spoken and storytelling supported with live instrumental stylings and scoring of hip-hop, r&b, soul and jazz to bring an improvised cinematic literature experience.
The evening will feature the incredible poets Britta B and Patrick Walters. As well as open mic for poets and storytellers. Sign up available at the door.
Bring yourself, a friend or your own poems. Come to share or just come to listen and enjoy the vibes as the essence of poetry breaks free from the page and flows into a sound garden.
Right Beside You Projects is an overlapping community of folks blending together to listen, explore, respond and enjoy the expressions of stories, ideas, emotions and entertainment. Our NPM edition is supported by our community partners Toronto Poetry Project and Hip-Hop Healing.
Bring yourself, a friend or your own poems. Come to share or just come to listen and enjoy the vibes as the essence of poetry breaks free from the page and flows into a sound garden.

Theme: Pagebreak
the page was once an abyss
gulping space in the chase of meaning
dreaming of obtaining experiences
of ideas and inklings,
wrinkling of old tales
births of new spells
bargained into margins
and imagine how deep it is
to submerge and sub scribe
and emerge to rise
above the drafts and surface
for air with and ears
to be seen and heard
