A versatile singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Mac Ayres emerged in 2017 with a breezy, sometimes lo-fi amalgam of R&B, soul, funk, vaporwave, and jazz fusion. He released his debut album, Something to Feel, in 2018 and received considerable acclaim for his third full-length effort, 2021's Magic 8ball. Subsequent efforts Comfortable Enough (2023) and Cloudy (2024) further solidified his reputation as an innovative modern R&B artist.

A native of Sea Cliff, New York, Ayres, a self-taught musician, attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston before dropping out in 2017 to complete his debut EP. Citing influences like D'Angelo and J Dilla, the resulting Drive Slow and the 2018 long-player Something to Feel helped Ayres build a loyal fan base, which grew larger with the releases of 2019's Juicebox and 2021's Magic 8ball. In 2023, Ayres explored grief, isolation, and personal growth on Comfortable Enough, an introspective set bolstered by the streaming hits "Something's Gotta Change" and "I Can't Go On." He revisited many of those themes on 2024's reflective Cloudy, which featured the hits "Alone with You" and "She Just Wann See Me Rn."
