The Finance + Procurement team is currently seeking a passionate and skilled individual to deliver exceptional accounting work. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities:
- Performs monthly close (including variance analysis) for assigned hotels and/or entities according to a pre-determined close schedule.
- Preparations of all JEs related to the hotel’s activity, ensuring relevant backup attached
- Timely preparation and issuance of monthly hotel financial statements
- Preparation of monthly reconciliations for property cash accounts and other GL reconciliations for hotel properties and other entities as assigned
- Contribute to the successful completion of external audits, including delivering information and schedules requested by auditors on a timely basis
- Assists with daily/weekly/monthly operational reporting
- Continuous review of all key GL accounts
- Regular communications with hotel managers and relevant stakeholders
- Support in the preparation of information to the external auditors for the annual audit
- Provide help to A/P, A/R and other accounting functions as required
- Other special projects, ad-hoc reports, and responsibilities as assigned
Skills + Requirements:
- Full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in the Hotel or Hospitality industry.
- Minimum 4-5 years of hands-on general ledger, reconciliation & analysis experience
- Bachelor’s degree or three-year diploma in Finance or Accounting. The CPA designation is preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
- Analytical problem-solver that is an expert at reconciling balance sheet accounts in a timely manner
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while ensuring work is performed accurately.
- Enjoys a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Detail-oriented, Professional Attitude & reliable
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- An understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures including federal and provincial tax regulations (HST, WSIB, EHT)
- Sage 300 (ACCPAC) preferred
- A/P and A/R systems knowledge
- Experience with year-end Audit/Review engagements and associated tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
