A Moment to a Memory
ISABEL OKORO
2018 - 2024
In this series, Isabel Okoro explores the consolidation of memory through striking visual representations of her intimate world. The collection explores the fragments that linger when much is forgotten, focusing on the enduring elements of our existence - our sense of self, the presence of love, and the fluid interplay of space and time. Through these images, Okoro invites viewers to reflect on the profound ways memory shapes identity and our understanding of the world.
About the Artist
Isabel Okoro (b. 2001, Nigeria), born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, she is currently a Toronto-based photographer. Okoro uses photography to visualize an imagined world and eternity, as a space to immortalize family, friends & those she meets along the way. Her governing photographic thesis is predicated on the creation of a Black utopia; a world free of the anxiety, violence and oppression experienced by those of the African diaspora.
