My Night in Nine is a series where we ask some of our friends, collaborators and all-around creatives to show us what a night at The Drake looks like for them in nine photos.
When we heard Toronto photographer Dzesika Devic would be spending a night at ours, we knew we had to get her to share her night in 9. As a street photographer, she describes her approach to her work, quite poignantly, in her artist statement: “In noticing mundane still life, or interactions, I hope the viewer can see the beauty in their everyday life as well. Noticing seemingly boring, yet pretty scenes, adds meaning to our everyday life.”
Ahead of the launch of her show The Covid Rolls, on display now in The Drake Hotel Sky Yard as part of the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival, Dzesika and her partner Eddie stopped by for a little staycation in the city in our Artist Loft.
