  • WAREHOUSE PACKER

    The Drake General Store continues Drake’s mandate for providing a community based hotbed for culture, an energetic hub for visual and performance art, dining, hospitality and, now, treasure hunting.

    The Drake General Store is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team and provide PACKING SUPPORT for our General Store Warehouse for short term positions for 8 weeks contracts starting in August to fulfill a large Gift Set Order. This role offers full time hours.

    If you are design savvy, up to date with current trends, comfortable with books, clothes, jewelry, curios and most importantly, people, we are looking for you.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    Warehouse Operations
    - Receiving, organizing, labeling, packaging products
    - Shipping and Receiving of goods – matching to purchase orders
    - Filling orders in a timely manner
    - Assisting drivers with larger items; ensuring there isn't a build-up of skids
    - Ordering warehouse supplies, restocks etc.
    - General maintenance support (space/stock, garbage/recycling)

    Store-Support Tasks
    - Pricing individual units and dividing according to transfer slips
    - Inventory accuracy

    Desired Skills:
    - Hard working, industrious attitude
    - Very independent worker – will take the initiative
    - Comfortable with PC and basic Office applications
    - Must have open full time availability during the entire contract

  • VISUAL MERCHANDISING COORDINATOR

    Finding visual solutions with a commercial focus; the VISUAL MERCHANDISING COORDINATOR maximize sales and store potential. They inspire stores to deliver to our visual merchandising guidelines + standards and contribute to the Brand visual strategy. They build strong working relationships with our Head Office functions and retail teams, to deliver on the Drake General Store’s brand objectives. The VISUAL MERCHANDISING COORDINATOR manages displays, graphics and fixture orders, as well as communicating + sharing details on the latest trend coming from Head Office to store.

    Store level operations responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide weekly status updates on objectives and identifying any issues or opportunities pertaining to merchandise, the sales floor, and marketing.
    • Assign priorities and provide direction + support in the communication to drive sales and improve merchandise processes
    • Review weekly sell through docs with buying team and support the communication of change to merchandise presentation or markdowns (coordinate signage with graphic design)
    • Communicate urgent directives to the stores, to ensure that all merchandise or product changes are happening in a timely manner
    • Conduct store visits to ensure the standards are being maintained, follow up on the execution of initiatives, promotions or store changes.
    • and refresh departments for a fresh look communicate with non-Toronto stores weekly to freshen up displays.
    • Perform + monitor markdown functions to ensure all merchandise, in all stores, are priced correctly.
    • Evaluate instore merchandising tools to maximize space, improve sales and ensure that each store meets Drake General Store and guest service standard.
    • Collaborate with each store to maximize space and solve storage issues on the sales floor and in the backroom.
    • Maintain merchandising standards as per Merchandising Guide Book. Train and coach Sales Associates on merchandise presentation standards
    • Communicate to head office any store fixtures that need repair / suggest new store fixtures that would drive sales and improve the look/feel of store
    • Offer exceptional customer service while on the floor merchandising.
    • Work with all Drake properties (Drake Hotel, Drake One Fifty and Drake Devonshire Inn) tuck-shop to make ensure merchandise mix and presentation are timely and up to DGS standards. Assist in merchandising of offsite retail/marketing initiatives (ie: Crows Nest / Urban Outfitters etc).
    • Monitor store inventories with weekly restock plan and inter-store transfers
    • Manage inventory schedule and process with Store supervisors + monthly inventory reporting

    Company level operations:

    • Develop a plan with Marketing to increase sales in under performing departments and capitalize on high performers
    • Meet weekly with office team to stay looped into upcoming events and coordinate reactive merchandising to drive the business.
    • Conduct weekly Website Audits to explore category & product pages, to ensure proper product groupings
    • Work with Marketing + E-commerce to determine product groupings for online categories with campaign launches
    • Work with buying and marketing to develop a visual merchandising directive to roll out at all locations. As a team build directives for campaign flips / manage each store’s flip (working 6 weeks in advance) before deliveries

    Qualifications:

    • 3- 5 years of experience in with visual merchandise and retail leadership/ leader role
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, and some travelling required
    • Must be able to build relationships in order to foster teamwork and develop partnerships
    • Proven track record of meeting sales targets and successful performance management
    • Ability to multi-task and coordinate ongoing projects, plans and people
    • Work well under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
    • Love of brainstorming, problem-solving, being creative and resourceful
    • Talented oral and written communicator
    • Practical working knowledge of computer operations, including use of the full Microsoft Office Suite

  • PRODUCT + LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHER (6 MONTH CONTRACT)

    The Drake General Store is seeking a motivated, creative and highly organized individual to act as a the PRODUCT + LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHER. The part time contract photographer is responsible for taking high quality photographs for the Drake General Store. This role will ensure that all products are shot in a timely, accurate, and high quality manner in order to contribute to the highest quality user experience possible. We are looking for someone who really gets our brand and is passionate about the story we're telling, and can capture the essence of Drake General Store + it’s products.

    RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

    • Photograph On/Off-model product images in accordance with DGS brand guidelines
    • Produce high quality digital images in line with established standards
    • Perform image processing and transfer to retouching network as per DGS guidelines
    • Maintain On/Off Model Shooting Guideline Manuals
    • Act as a stylist with on-model shots to maximize shoot time and minimize retouching and re shoots (Bonus if the photographer can also style)
    • Ability to multi-task and coordinate ongoing projects, plans and people
    • Work well under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
    • Liaise with E commerce Manager + Marketing + Design to ensure styling and posing is consistent with DGS identity and brand guidelines
    • Provide own Camera + Lighting equipment and manage all provided studio equipment, and inventory
    • Initiate, plan and execute continuous improvement projects
    • Support department by performing various studio tasks as required

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Competent in Photography + passionate about retail
    • Photography experience in a studio environment, e-commerce experience is an asset
    • Proven experience using digital cameras and lighting equipment
    • Proficient in Photoshop retouching skills
    • Practical working knowledge of computer operations, including use of the full Microsoft Office Suite and complete operating experience of Mac OS + Windows
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, and some travelling required
    • Detail oriented with strong time management and organizational skills
    • Excellent ability to work under tight deadlines

  • TEAM LEAD- QUEEN WEST

The Drake General Store is seeking motivated and experienced FULL TIME TEAM LEAD to join our QUEEN ST. WEST team + grow with our company.     The objective of the Queen West, Team Lead role is maximizing in-store sales. They will achieve this through various activities including: the maintaining store operations, steps of service and the Drake brand, supporting store marketing and promotions, leading by example and providing exemplary customer service, and maintaining store + merchandising standards through the measurement of KPIs, to ultimately drive revenue, guest satisfaction.

    RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

    Store Operations
    • Collaborate with the Area Manager to manage the stores physical and financial resources through KPIs measurement, communicating operation needs to Area Manager and/or the appropriate department, providing leadership and guidance to staff, and ensuring a superior service experience is delivered to all guests
    • Working with the Merchandising Coordinator to effectively merchandise and maintain store aesthetics (inventory management, receiving, floor merchandising, back stock organization)
    • Work with Sales Associates to ensure all responsibilities + duties are completed on the Daily

    Task Check List
    • Complete the “Daily Doc/ EOD” recapping ATD, conversation, UPT, sales, traffic, emails and goals and send to Area Manager
    • Work with Area Manager on staff performance reviews and action plans
    • Support payroll, labour budgets and expense
    • Support Area Manager completing weekly reporting including: supply orders, restock requests, and time clocks (detail+ summary)
    • Support monthly inventories and ensure accurate and timely inventory management controls
    • Complete Inventory Discrepancy Report Summary through investigation and audits with Area Manager
    • On call to support store or staff questions and/ or issue that may arise

    Sales Responsibilities
    • Work with Area Manager to produce sales strategies and objectives for the store
    • Execute DGS marketing initiatives and promotions, to increase overall store sales
    • Support sales + business objectives and proactively recommend improvements on a regular basis
    • Drive store business by growing ADT and email database, and exceeding daily targets

    Training Responsibilities
    • Support training and on-boarding of all New Hires from start to finish
    • Assist the Area Manager in growing + developing training programs and optional training seminars
    • Encourage and promote on-going in store and optional training programs

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Minimum of 2-3 years in a retail or customer service environment
    • Demonstrated abilities with sales + customer relationship building
    • Must be able to work well and remain motivated within an independent, unsupervised environment
    • Experience in a supervisory or “key holder” function within a retail store
    • Open availability to work weekdays + weekend shifts, full time availability
    • Food handlers certificate is an asset
