    The Drake Devonshire is experiencing an exciting phase of growth and is currently seeking additional SOUS CHEFS to join our dynamic kitchen leadership team. With imminent expansion plans, this role provides a unique opportunity for an experienced, passionate and innovative culinary professional and inspiring leader who is looking for a rewarding hospitality career with opportunities for advancement.

    We are seeking candidates with a combination of skills and experience that include operational + kitchen management excellence in a high volume business, as well as a proven desire to strive for continuous culinary innovation. The ideal candidate will bring management experience from a similar environment, as well a strong culinary background, staff management, operations, safety and compliance.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Reporting to the Drake Hotel's Executive Chef you will play a key role as part of a small, interdependent management team that may include: Hotel, Culinary, Special Events, Security, Human Resources and Corporate Service departments.

    While on shift, your role will include, but not be limited to:

    • Understanding, adhering to and executing all kitchen operational policies + procedures, standards and training programs
    • Ensuring a unique and consistent guest dining experience by actively managing the team and resolving issues, should they arise
    • Maintaining a strong focus on achieving and/or exceeding revenue targets, within acceptable labor cost and service standard parameters
    • Monitoring and managing service, quality, health + safety and cleanliness

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 3-5 years of progressive kitchen leadership experience in a fine or casual dining environment
    • Demonstrated awareness of and interest in current culinary trends in the marketplace
    • Operations management experience in a high volume establishment with significant evening and catering/special events business
    • Experienced trainer and mentor to large staff teams
    • Demonstrated patience, tact and diplomacy while leading a diverse team of industry professionals
    • Ability to multi-task, remain cool and keep up in a fast paced environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication experience, both verbal & written
    • Excellent organizational skills, with timely delivery of all required administrative work
    • Flexible to work evenings and weekends and holidays
    • Red Seal Certification or equivalent considered a strong asset

    We are looking for a reliable individual who is honest and has integrity, common sense, people skills, to join our dynamic team. This key individual responsible for perimeter checks, be ready for any kind of emergency, complete detailed daily reports, and ensure the safety of our guests.

    Requirements include but are not limited to:

    - A minimum of 1-2 year of experience in a similar role, preferably in hospitality
    - Valid security license
    - Smart serve
    - First aid are an asset
    - Must be flexible and able to work weekends and the occasional overnight shift
    - Preference will be given to those who have martial arts, use of force training, or police foundations, but we are still willing to train the right candidates with the right attitude and demeanor
    - Strong customer service and positive attitude an asset

    We are seeking a polite and polished VALET, that is ready to provide an exceptional level of customer service guests, while monitoring and securing the front and entry of the property, parking lot and surrounding areas.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    - Securing the front premises
    - Ensuring that AGCO laws are being upheld by guests leaving
    - Directing the parking lot
    - Ensuring that the fire escape/round about is not blocked with parked vehicles
    - Ensuring that our accessible parking spot is adhered to
    - Guest facing: greeting guests and directing guests if the lot is full
    - Enforcing legal parking by our guests (not in the loading zone, food land or neighboring property.)

    Must be available Friday to Sunday, afternoon and evening.

  • MAINTENANCE SUPPORT

    This position requires an individual who is comfortable in a fast paced, ever changing building environment, with a wide variety of operations and technical needs. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the functioning of the building while on duty, by applying preventative maintenance techniques and or executing major and minor repairs, supervising Building Services Representatives, overseeing maintenance issues, daily and weekly cleaning schedules and assisting with renovations and large projects as they arise. Reporting to the Building Services Manager, the Technician is also responsible for the following:

    Responsibilities:
    • Assist the Builders Services Manager with the day to day operation of the building by performing assigned duties
    • Support the team for all building and grounds related issues including general cleanliness, chopping wood, plant care ect
    • Strong eye for detail
    • Positive and energetic individual with a "can-do" attitude
    • Perform special projects as assigned by the Building Services Manager
    • Work with service providers to ensure contract obligations are met with value of service
    • Support the maintenance team with inspections and work orders
    • Participate in all building operations relative to Fire, Health and Safety procedures and audits
    • To be available on call to respond to emergency situations when off site

    Qualifications:
    • A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience. Hotel/ hospitality experience is an asset
    • Strong drywall and painting knowledge
    • Basic mechanical/electrical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills
    • Plumbing skills and abilities
    • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Must be able to lift up to 20 kg unassisted, and be able to work from heights
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and activities
    • Knowledge of outlook, word and excel
    • Adaptable to flexible working schedule
    • Community College of Trade School training on building systems; SMT (Systems Maintenance Technician) designation would be an asset
    • General carpentry/Millwork experience

The Restaurant Manager position requires a combination of skills and experience that include operational excellence in a high-volume business, as well as a proven track record for outstanding food + beverage service, a solid understanding of events and reservation systems and team leadership. Reporting to the General Manager of the Drake Devonshire, the ideal candidate will bring management experience from a similar environment, as well as best practices in guest service, staff management, operations, safety and compliance.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In joining the Drake Devonshire F+B management team, you will be bringing experience in hiring, training and mentoring an exemplary front of house team. You will have a demonstrated track record in achieving set objectives in sales, labor cost management, employee retention, customer service and satisfaction, health + safety, AGCO/legal compliance and cleanliness standards. You are a genuine and natural leader, who believes in the art of hospitality and who takes great pride in the Drake and our offerings.
    You will have a deep knowledge of service best practices, food and wine and will have demonstrated experience in sharing this knowledge effectively to build a consistent, service focused, efficient front of house team.

    Location Specific Reports: F+B leadership and Front of House

    Corporate Support Partners: Marketing, HR, Finance + Procurement, IT, Special Events, Culinary + Hotel Leadership

    Operations Management/Safety/Compliance
    • Ensure seamless building operations by following and enforcing policies and standard operating procedures that are site specific and in adherence to Drake’s established standards
    • Ensure exceptional safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper food/liquor handling, storage, service, emergency and security procedures
    • Maintaining a strong focus on achieving and/or exceeding revenue targets, within acceptable labor cost and service standard parameters
    • Understanding, adhering to and executing all F+B operational policies + procedures, standards and training programs
    • Monitoring and managing service, quality, health + safety and cleanliness
    • Ensuring that AGCO, municipal and provincial laws are being adhered to
    • F+B projects, results analysis and inventory management as assigned
    • Ensure maintenance of equipment, facility, and grounds through the use of a Preventative Maintenance Plan based on DHP standards.

    Guest Satisfaction + Quality Control
    • Maintain product and service quality standards through ongoing evaluations, reviewing Key Performance Indicator, Secret Shopper and Guest Satisfaction Survey scores and investigating complaints.
    • Ensuring a unique and genuine guest experience by empowering staff to resolve issues, while acting as a supportive and active leader who will manage situations as they evolve
    • Working in tandem with the host team to ensure all reservations are input correctly and honored in a timely fashion
    • Making sure that the reservation book is being utilized correctly to maximize sales whilst balancing guest satisfaction and comfort
    Business Development + Community Relations
    • In collaboration with the General Manager, work to attract guests by developing and implementing year-round marketing, programming, public and community relations programs; evaluating program results; identifying and tracking changing demands on F+B operations
    • Utilize corporate marketing resources to develop and implement ongoing campaigns, both location and company specific
    Leadership / Staff Development
    • Cultivate a positive and engaged work environment, with a focus on accountability, training, mentoring and continuous feedback
    • Support corporate led training initiatives and develop, along with management team, training programs specific to your location and business
    • Implement corrective action with input from the team
    • Participate in hiring, onboarding and training as required
    • Actively engaging in the performance management and development process, along with the other Food and Beverage Managers, of the full FOH hourly team

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 5-7 years of progressive experience in a fine or casual dining environment
    • Strong preference given to candidates with a minimum ISG, WSET or comparable Level 1 wine training
    • Awareness of current culinary trends in the marketplace
    • Operations management experience in a high-volume establishment with significant experience with reservation systems, event and large party bookings
    • Experienced trainer and mentor to large staff teams
    • Demonstrated patience, tact and diplomacy while leading a diverse team of industry professionals
    • Ability to multi-task, remain cool and keep up in a fast-paced environment.
