Choreographer Iain Rowe: Artist-In-Residence

Posted by Ashley Mulvihill , 1 year ago

We invited choreographer Iain Rowe to be our first ever dance focused Artist-in-Residence at our Drake Devonshire location. Born and raised in Canada, educated and trained at Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto, he went on to join The Royal Danish Ballet at the mere age of eighteen. Twelve years later with a Masters degree in Choreographic Studies from New York University, he has created an extensive repertoire integrating his broad range of experiences and we've been lucky enough to learn about his process and practice.

Hamilton based, Iceland born, Svava Thordis Juliusson, was the perfect artist to take part in an installation inspired by the land of fire and ice on the Sky Yard. Her sculptural piece, Black Line - Squiggly with White is made of industrial materials that transports the space into a Northern oasis.
