Toasting the End of an Era: Our Fave “Mad Men” Cocktails

Posted by Drake, 2 years, 1 month ago

As we toast the end of the 1960s with our Man Men final episode viewing party in the Hotel’s North Lounge, it seems appropriate to acknowledge the show’s role in introducing to a new generation the Manhattans and proper old-fashioneds tippled by our hard-boozing ad execs.

The 7 Best Artworks at NYC 2015 Art Week

Posted by Drake, 2 years, 3 months ago

With temperatures yo-yoing in NYC — didn't you read about the airplane that skidded off La Guardia's runway? — the same could be said for its massive Art Week. Every March, the international artworld circuit descends on Manhattan, with collectors and art professionals swarming art fair booths and Chelsea shows. The art varies — folded aluminium, neon, sculpture-furniture, ye old painted canvases — and its enough to make this art-viewing a marathon.

Our curatorial team, head of cultural programming Mia Nielsen and assistant curator Rea McNamara, got caught in the maelstrom, but came out safely with some sure art bets for 2015. (Think pink, and yes, maybe even sculpture-furniture.)
