Labour Day BBQ

Labour Day marks the end of the summer and Drake Devonshire is ready to host the jam of the season where you can sport those white pants one last time. Come and party by the lake while exploring the property, hanging out with the Drake fam and meeting our awesome neighbours bringing tasty treats. Expand your taste palate with ice-cold local brews, smooth County wines and delicious food while listening to super group party band Dwayne Gretzky.

Drake Devonshire is proud to be part of the vibrant Prince Edward County community and is passionate about supporting our local brewers + vintners. In addition to Chef Matty’s killer BBQ spread, arts + crafts for the little ones, and $5 Ace Hill getting the party started, our BBQ showcases the best Prince Edward County and Ontario has to offer with family-owned, independent, organic brands.

Some wonderful vendors include:

Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company

Brewing since 2006, this award-winning local, family-run and independent brewer believes in concocting the best-quality beer with certified organic ingredients. From organic malts, hops, botanicals and local spring water the brand puts its passion and love for beer into every bottle.

The brand has a variety of beers known for its taste and artistic, eye-catching labels. Beau’s original beer, “Lug-Tread Lagered Ale,” is on tap at various bars and restaurants as well as at retail locations year-round. The beer is noted for its interwoven malt and hop flavours, subtle fruit notes and crisp lingering finish. Their milk stout “Tom Green” beer is another popular selection known for its espresso and chocolate notes.

Huff Estates Winery and Inn

“You’ll think you died and went to France,” said Toronto Star's Carolyn Evans Hammond about this Prince Edward County vineyard. With deep family ties in Prince Edward County, the owner’s love for wine and the County was inspiration to start this brand. Its beautiful state-of-the-art facility, constructed with the aim of making high-quality products, produces Chardonnays, Rieslings, Merlot-based reds and traditional method sparkling wines.

Norman Hardie Winery + Vineyard

Established in 2003, Norman Hardie Winery + Vineyard has sites in Prince Edward County and the Niagara region on land rich with clay and limestone, and produces fine wines in a Burgundian style. Best known for his Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, his bottles can be found in top restaurants in New York, London, Tokyo, Quebec and Ontario. His work garners high praise from media and restaurateurs including David McMillan, co-owner of Joe Beef, who said “Norman is making world-class Chardonnays…”

Rosehall Run Vineyards

With close proximity to Lake Ontario and 25-acres of estate vineyards planted, Rosehall Run is not only known for its selection of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but its sustainable winemaking practises. The dedication of co-founder Dan Sullivan maintains a hands-on approach and believe winemaking starts in the vineyard.
