Mystery Skulls

Born in a small town in Venezuela, Luis moved to Toronto at the age of 8 where he had a pop-cultural awakening; it was a big change from his sealed off life prior to moving to a large North American city. However, after some initial shock Luis immersed himself right into the sounds of the 90’s and his love of music followed with him when he moved to North Texas as a teen.

What were once his music obsessions – Boys II Men, Deee-Lite, Black-Box, Nirvana, Wu-Tang Clan, Slayer, Beastie Boys, Prodigy and Daft Punk - soon became his musical influences as a producer. His interest + R&B influence in his music is greatly seen in his two songs featuring Brandy; a music partner he didn’t have to think twice about when Warner Bros. approached him asking who he would like to work with. As it turns out Brandy is a fan of Mystery Skulls as well and the two are apparently working together as Luis is now contributing to her upcoming album. Another dream partnership come true, Nile Rodgers. Nile, better known as the lead guitarist of the band Chic, has also lent a hand in production of an endless amount of knockout tracks including Draft Punk’s “Get Lucky”, Disclosure’s “Together” and Avicii’s “Lay Me Down”, just to name a few recent hits. After Nile got in touch and expressed interest in working together, the two collaborated and produced two singles on Mystery Skulls album Forever; Number 1 and Magic.

Mystery Skulls

The release of Mystery Skulls debut studio album Forever in late 2014 was met with positive reviews with the single Ghost debuting on the Billboard US Hot Dance/ Electronic chart at number 17. Mystery Skulls is now embarking on a world tour that is taking his music throughout North America + Europe. Luckily the tour is making ONE stop in Canada… in Toronto… in the Drake Underground + we couldn’t be more pumped to see him perform. Mystery Skulls will be performing Aug. 28 (THIS FRIDAY) at 7:30 PM; cover is $15 at the door. You can check out our event listing here.

To get you through the week + in anticipation for the show, here are a few Mystery Skulls tunes to keep you going.
