This Halloween, TIFF is launching a wicked-cool Stanley Kubrick exhibition, running until January 25, 2015. It will showcase the prolific filmmaker’s 50-year body of cult-classic work. With rare photographs and letters, original props and costumes, screenplays, production materials and cameras from his home and workplaces, you’ve never seen something quite like this.

Begin with a BOOM: as we know from Kubrick, all work and no play can have some dire consequences—so let loose as TIFF transforms the Lightbox into: BOOMBOX TIFF's annual fundraiser party on October 30th. It’s set to be an explosion of film, music, art and Kubrick-themed fun to support year-round programming, education and community outreach initiatives at TIFF. Wind your way around the Lightbox to discover unseen corners replete with costumed actors, installations and DJs at this not-to-be-missed event (which also boasts an open bar and snacks).

The exhibit’s iconic film props are from some of Kubrick’s most famed films and include the 'Starchild' from 2001: A Space Odyssey, the dresses worn by the ghostly sisters in The Shining, Private Joker’s ‘Born to Kill’ helmet from Full Metal Jacket, the authentic model of the Dr. Strangelove ‘War Room’ + more. Whether you fancy yourself a cinephile, a Toronto culture vulture or just have a passing interest in the weird and dystopic, this exhibit is a must see.

TIFF will also give you a unique glimpse into Kubrick’s genius with research papers, costume designs, shooting scripts and testimonies of his meticulous creative style. The whole shebang takes about 60 minutes to soak in.
