We're so excited to participate in Nuit Blanche for the seventh year in a row! Join us for a night of no sleep, filled with art as Postcards from the Future take over Drake with site-specific installations by Alex McLeod, Jesse Harris + Tristram Lansdowne.
We're also keeping the party going 'til 4AM at The Drake Hotel + 'til 2AM at Drake One Fifty featuring the sounds of DJ Nana, Never Forgive Action (with Big Jacks & Royale, DJ Numeric, DJ Dalia + hosted by More or Les) and Johnny Hockin.
On the façade, Alex McLeod’s video projection expands on his iconic digital landscapes and environments, in an installation on the front of the building. Take a step back and watch as these fanciful landscapes evolve over the course of the night. The Lobby will feature Jesse Harris’ text-base work, which will be the first ceiling installation in Drake’s history. The letter, which will appear to drip from overhead, will read: I wish I were what I was when I wished I were what I am. Continue to explore Nuit Blanche within Drake’s Lounge; Tristram Lansdowne’s piece will be the first time a 55-foot-long site-specifc work will be in the building.
To bring in Drake’s first-ever stand-alone restaurant, Drake One Fifty , will have McLeod's video projection on loop as well as a magician on-site. There’s nothing white rabbit or girl-in-half about this act though. A special limited-edition run of Art For You will be split between the locations. We can't wait to see you!
